Loved LoveHappyHour’s Launch Party!

Gift bags at the launch party!

The celebratory party (held last Monday at the W Hotel in Hollywood, CA) for the official launch of LoveHappyHour’s new website http://lovehappyhour.com was fantastic! The approximate 125 people in attendance made for a large, but not overwhelming crowd of happy party-goers. Along with samples made from May’s cookie mixes guests also received in their gift bags: a t-shirt from American Apparel and bottled water from Eternal Water.

With awesome music, delicious drinks, and great energy we had a wonderful time at the launch! (For more photos of the launch party, check out http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/pages/Newington-CT/May-Cookie-Co/127127266038)

Share with Connecticut’s Foodshare

An organization that we have recently gotten more involved with is a non-profit food bank called Foodshare. It is an organization based right in Connecticut that serves the Hartford and Tolland counties by distributing an astonishing 16 tons of food each day to a network of almost 350 local partners that feed the hungry in the area.

An admirable element within their overall mission is to educate families and children especially on the importance of maintaining your health and being able to make well-balanced meals. We could not agree more.

May Cookie Co. has donated about 400 boxes of our cookie mixes to go out to the greater Hartford area. To learn more about this organization or to find out how you can contribute, please go to www.foodshare.org

Time flies… Period.

No matter how organized – and believe me, I try to be - I somehow always find myself doing a double-take at my calendar. With eyebrows furrowed in disbelief, it takes me a few moments to wrap my head around how time has flown by so quickly. Wasn’t it just last week that I was compiling a “Summer 2010” list filled with fun, ambitious tasks? Suddenly it’s mid-August and like everyone else, I am trying to relish the last of the beach trips and family barbeques before the busy fall season starts. Where did the time go?!

There’s still plenty of time to enjoy the great weather and relaxing times with friends and family, right? What things are you making sure to squeeze in before returning to the world where to-do lists, schedules, and general chaos are the norm? How are you spending the last fleeting weeks of summer?

Decisions, decisions…

“Summertime and the livin’ is easy”…but are you still constantly arguing with yourself about making the “right” food choices? Your inner 5-year-old is screaming to devour the 3-layer chocolate cake without a second thought, but the adult in you knows that you should opt for the small fruit medley with Greek yogurt. The uncertain crossroads we reach where we must choose between scrumptious and healthy. We’ve all been here before.

The good news is that summer is a great time to stay active. And, you can still make smart, healthy choices whether you’re at a backyard barbeque or away on vacation without sacrificing all that is delicious and good. The dessert portion of your meals doesn’t have to be an all or nothing decision! Be creative with your options and pair a scoop of your favorite ice cream or frozen yogurt with an oatmeal cookie, or dip fresh fruit in some melted chocolate. You can still enjoy summer indulgences, just with a conscious mind!

Keep livin’ that easy summer!

Susan

Litchfield County knows how to throw a festival!

Photo courtesy of Connecticut Wine Festival

What a weekend! May Cookie Co. traveled over to Goshen, CT Litchfield County to participate in the 2nd annual Connecticut Wine Festival this past weekend and what a blast! The two-day event was held on the Goshen Fairgrounds and featured tastings from sixteen Connecticut wineries, as well as fantastic local food and live music.

With picture-perfect weather and an attendance of over 5,000, it could not have been a better event. The sociable atmosphere and positive vibe all-around fueled friendly conversation and I loved meeting everyone there!

We showcased and made samples of our cookie mix line: Triple Chocolate Chip Oatmeal, Rich and Chewy Chocolate Chocolate Chip, and Hearty & Wholesome Oatmeal Cranberry- and they were a big hit! May Cookie Co. was very excited to be involved with the event. We look forward to next year’s Connecticut Wine Festival!

Upcoming events!

We will keep you posted on more events where you can find May Cookie Co. You can also always visit us on www.maycookie.com where you will find product information,  how to find our products and much more!

May Cookie Featured On Eat Clean Live Well

This article first appeared  last month on Terry Walters’ EAT CLEAN LIVE WELL blog as part of her series: “Women Creating A Healthier Future”. Here’s Terry:

As a child, I based my definition of success on what I suspected would make my parents proud. Good grades, a good career, traditional values… In my adult life, my own definition of success has emerged – being true to what is in my heart and pursuing my passion. This past year has afforded me the opportunity to meet amazing people, all of whom share a passion for living a healthy life. Not only have they taken great risks to follow their hearts, but in doing so they are creating a healthy future for themselves and so many others. While there are more people than I can possibly highlight in one post, these few women in particular have inspired me. I hope they inspire you, too.

SUSAN NOLTE is the founder of MAY COOKIE COMPANY which she founded in 2008. Susan bakes cookies. I love cookies. The match was made in heaven (and my children are quite fond of her, too)! When I met Susan, she was trying to figure out how to sell her healthy cookies. Two years later, Susan’s May Cookie Company features a line of all-natural cookie mixes that allow busy, health-conscious consumers to enjoy baking from scratch (with just enough help). Susan’s cookie mixes have been featured in a variety of local magazines and are even sold at my local Whole Foods. But what I like even more than Susan’s cookies is the positive energy she brings to every detail of her business, her flexibility, and the confidence she holds in her heart that it will all happen. Indeed, she’s making it so.

We at May Cookie are excited and honored to be featured on Terry’s blog. Thank you Terry for the great work you are doing.
